Maternity Services Integration Project

Calling for Expression of Interest from Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander artists

We want to use your art in our Maternity Services Integration Project (MSIP). If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander mum who can produce beautiful art, we want you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

About MSIP
The MSIP is a Queensland Health funded programme that aims to improve the maternity services journey for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies in Queensland.

Artwork concept
Your artwork will capture a personal pregnancy/birth journey or story for an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander woman. It can be symbolic, abstract or figurative in any painted or drawing media. We would love to see something that is bright and colourful. Unfortunately for this project we cannot accept photographic or digital media submissions. Ideally the artwork will be in a square format on a paper or canvas size of 60cm x 60cm.

We are excited to be using the artwork for the cover of a baby book and to advertise/promote the program (flyers/social media etc). It will appear on stickers that will be attached to packaging of maternal products such as feeding bottles. It may also be used in reports and project-related communication as well as printed on baby wraps/swaddles.

Submitting an EOI
To express your interest, please complete the Application Form and tell us about the story behind your art in a short statement. Attach a photograph of your artwork.

Download the Application Form

Submit your EOI before: 5pm on Thursday 1 October 2020.
You will be notified of the outcome on: 2 October 2020.
If you are successful, your final artwork will need to be delivered to QAIHC by 9 October 2020.

Successful submission
The successful artist will receive $1500 plus GST for their artwork. $500 will be payable to the artist on acceptance of the design, with the remaining funds payable upon delivery of the final artwork.
